January 2014 Y Polyn, Capel Dewi, Carmarthen

http://www.ypolynrestaurant.co.uk/

Only three J's made it on our first outing of 2014....
Great value Credit Crunch Lunch which changes each week and even though one of the J's disliked rice pudding she could choose an alternative from the main menu ..sticky toffee pudding.

We thought it was fabulous, real food, well put together, very tasty and would go back every week if it was on our doorstep.

Also with being in the area we couldn't resist an afternoon cuppa en route home at http://wrightsfood.co.uk/
to stock up on some goodies and get more info about their exciting move up the road....our next trip out will be there watch this space.....

December 2013 2nd visit to Hammet House Llechryd nr Cardigan

 Starters...

 Mains...
 x 2
 desserts..

 A lovely real fire...
After our last visit we decided to return again as Hammet House are still 'work in progress' although there were no changes to the reception/bar/lounge & restaurant areas. The large function room has a lovely new floor and looks all the better for it. The toilets still need some attention to match up to the rest of the downstairs.
We were disappointed again to be the only diners at lunch time although the real fire helped the atmosphere.
So, the service was good, the food was good, the Christmas decorations were.....interesting.....
There were two main negatives for us on this occasion...the cost of £31 per head with no alcohol (only three ginger beers)(you can eat at a Michelin star restaurant in London such as Hibiscus for lunch @ £35 per head) and the atmosphere as there was some medical thing going on and a couple of nurses walking about made us feel we were in some kind of institution?
