The Plough @ Rhosmaen nr Llandeilo

Three of the 'J's visited The Plough @ Rhosmaen on Thursday 18th September on a gorgeous sunny day. http://www.ploughrhosmaen.com/index.html

The Plough is situated in a lovely location, being on the main road but with lovely views across the fields.
The interior has a modern decor with lots of space for people to sit and enjoy a drink and/or a meal.

These are the three  main courses we chose....

Homemade lasagne
Pan fried chicken stuffed with mushroom duxcell & veg
Pan seared lambs liver with bubble and squeak and veg
All the group thoroughly enjoyed their meal. No desserts were ordered as after a shopping trip into Llandeilo the obligatory pilgrimage to Wrights Food Emporium for tea, cake and food shopping was made. http://www.wrightsfood.co.uk/#about

Friday 2nd May 2014...

Food with the 4J's - two lunch at Coast Restaurant, Coppet Hall, Saundersfoot

 http://coastsaundersfoot.co.uk/

It was a lovely sunny day when we decided to make our first visit to this restaurant. Newly opened by Neil & Zoe from The Grove in Molleston nr Narberth and headed up by chef Will Holland.

We decided to order two non alcoholic cocktails and to sit on the terrace and decide what we would order for lunch. We were a little surprised there was no separate lunch menu as they offer one at The Grove.
We visited here quite early into it's initial opening and there were a few things not finished surrounding the restaurant but this didn't effect our enjoyment. The food we chose was fishfingers & chips and John Dory filets for main course with a side order of greens (£4!) For dessert we had pear with panna cotta & blood orange sorbet baked alaska followed by two coffees. We felt there could have been a drop more coffee in the cups or have been offered the option of cafetieres?? (as one of us doesn't take milk in our coffee)
We had an unfortunate encounter with a guy who may possibly have been a manager but we believe/hope he has since left.
The bill including tip for lunch was £74 for the two of us so not cheap. One of us has already returned for cocktails & nibbles with family members and we watch with interest whether a lunch menu appears...maybe late Autumn??

Only three J's made it on our first outing of 2014....
Great value Credit Crunch Lunch which changes each week and even though one of the J's disliked rice pudding she could choose an alternative from the main menu ..sticky toffee pudding.

We thought it was fabulous, real food, well put together, very tasty and would go back every week if it was on our doorstep.

Also with being in the area we couldn't resist an afternoon cuppa en route home at http://wrightsfood.co.uk/
to stock up on some goodies and get more info about their exciting move up the road....our next trip out will be there watch this space.....

December 2013 2nd visit to Hammet House Llechryd nr Cardigan

 Starters...

 Mains...
 x 2
 desserts..

 A lovely real fire...
After our last visit we decided to return again as Hammet House are still 'work in progress' although there were no changes to the reception/bar/lounge & restaurant areas. The large function room has a lovely new floor and looks all the better for it. The toilets still need some attention to match up to the rest of the downstairs.
We were disappointed again to be the only diners at lunch time although the real fire helped the atmosphere.
So, the service was good, the food was good, the Christmas decorations were.....interesting.....
There were two main negatives for us on this occasion...the cost of £31 per head with no alcohol (only three ginger beers)(you can eat at a Michelin star restaurant in London such as Hibiscus for lunch @ £35 per head) and the atmosphere as there was some medical thing going on and a couple of nurses walking about made us feel we were in some kind of institution?
